Agenda

    1. Apologies and Welcome

    2. Minutes of Previous Meeting *

      CSE Teaching Committee 15/6 (25 Sept 2015)

    3. Reports from Bodies outside CSE

John Shepherd will report on any interesting/relevant devlopments that have occurred in committees, work-groups, etc. at UNSW.

    4. New Course Proposal: Cyber Security

Richard Buckland has been working on developing a new course on Cyber Security in conjunction with the Commonwealth Bank.

    5. New Course: COMP9418 Advanced Topics in Statistcal Machine Learning

Edwin Bonilla is proposing a new course on Statistical Machine Learning.

      From the proposal:

There are various courses at CSE and Stats that cover some fundamental material for students interested in machine learning and big data analytics, most notably COMP9417 and MATH3871. This course aims at supporting the Data Science and Engineering stream of the MIT degree and at providing advanced undergraduate students with a more in-depth understanding of probabilistic models and methods. More importantly, there is currently not a course covering the topics that this course will teach.

      Link to Proposal in AIMS.

    6. Minor Changes to Courses

AIMS has recently been modified to allow small changes (which SAS wants to called "field edits") to be made to course entries, without having to go through a complete course revision process. Such changes are approved within the School. An example of such a change is a handbook entry amendment for COMP4336/9336 Mobile Data Networking proposed by Mahbub Hassan.
