Information Technology Traineeship

OVERVIEW.
The Somerville Group offers a career opportunity to candidates who wish to pursue a career in the Information Technology Industry. The Traineeship is based around a number of streams that provides the Trainee with a structured development program that builds and delivers a industry based certification within the IT industry.

The Traineeship is a Somerville Group (SGPL) initiative to assist in the skills development in this industry sector.

The Traineeship is a four year program that provides a mixture of hands-on training and classroom based training, culminating with a Main Stream industry based accreditation that will be portable throughout the IT Industry.

STREAMS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE.
There are a number of streams available for this Traineeship that deliver a focused and industry based accreditation. All traineeships begin the first two years with a broad ranging, general industry and business skills including time in the following rolls within the business;

* Base Skills Training ( First Two Years).

    *  Six Months in the IT Procurement Department, where you will gain product understanding and a general understanding of the operation of the business, business process, working with the QA System, learning the importance of the business process in the day to day operations of a business that will support your career in the future. You will have some liaison experience with our vendors and suppliers.

    * Twelve Months as an Internal Sales Support staff, where you will gain experience in building bills of materials, learn how to price product and quotes. This we be your first opportunity to liaise and respond directly to our customers. Customer Service with a fundamental skill that all technical and sales staff require. This position provides substantial learning the the products and services available in the industry.

In this time, you will also complete the Fundamentals of Networking training and begin some of the general networking based training courses that are relevant to your selected stream.

* Six Months with our Internet Service Provider (ISP) organisation, learning to support and maintain the components that run our ISP.

This generally complete the first two years of your training, from here you will focuse down one of the following streams;

* Internetworking Engineer ( Second Two Years)
You will embark on a Cisco Certified Internetworking Engineer Training Course, working side by side with our existing Internetworking Engineers, you may be employed in a number of positions from on-site rolls, service based rolls or within our ISP.

* Systems Engineer ( Microsoft MCSE) (Second Two Years)
You will embark on a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering course as your primary certification, you may be employed in a number of positions from full time on-site rolls, service based rolls or within our ISP.

* Systems Engineer ( Novell MCNE) (Second Two Years)
You will embark on a Novell Master Certified Netware Engineering course as your primary certification, you may be employed in a number of positions from full time on-site rolls, service based rolls or within our ISP.

* Technical Sales Stream (Second Two Years)
You will embark on a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineering course as your primary certification,you may be employed in a number of positions from full time on-site rolls, service based rolls or within our ISP.

REMUNERATION PACKAGES.

The Remuneration package for the Traineeship is as follows;

Year 3 Trainee $ 26,700.00 Additional Applies

Engineer Year 1 45,000.00 Included Not Applicable

PREREQUISITES:

It is a requirement that you have enrolled in a TAFE or IoT course and completed years 1 and 2 of those courses. Applicants with prior hands on experience in the industry will gain an advantage over those who have achieved no prior experience.

It is of extreme importance that you set the correct expectation with regarding to the work and on-going commitment to a career in the IT industry. All applicants must understand that to cease learning is to go backwards in this dynamic and growing industry.
