I'm proposing we offer an "Tutor of the Year" award. Here is my plan: Nominations are requested from students and staff by e-mail. I (and anyone who wants to help me) review these. For promising nominations, teaching staff of the relevant subject(s) are asked if they can supply any supporting info. A short-list goes to a TC meeting for a final choice. We give the "Tutor of the Year" a prize (of reasonable value - maybe $200) plus a certificate/plaque/trophy. Probably also a "highly commended" certificate to 5-10 runners up. Presentation at some suitable time. Appended is the sort of e-mail I'd propose sending to student requesting nominations Andrew Taylor Nominations for Tutor of the Year Casual tutors make a large contribution to the teaching of COMP subjects. This year the School of Computer Science and Engineering will recognize by awarding a prize for tutor of the year. This e-mail is a request for nominations. If you believe one of your CSE tutors, this year, has been outstanding, please e-mail me. I need to know what made your tutor outstanding - in other words tell me what your tutor did to assist your learning. 2-3 paragraphs will do. I'll also need to know the tutor's name, the subject, your name and your student number. If you get together with other students from your tutorial to prepare a nomination - please supply all your names and student numbers.
