These techniques
measure gestures using direct devices, such as gloves, styli,
position-trackers, flexion sensors and so on. These are then
transmitted to the computer, with the values of these then taken to
indicate a variety of details about where the hand is. People using
this approach include James Kramer ([KL89]), Peter Vamplew
([Vam]) and others.
