May 09 Our paper "Lazy Updates: An Efficient Technique to Continuously Monitoring Reverse kNN" (with Muhammad Aamir Cheema, Xuemin Lin, Ying Zhang, and Wenjie Zhang) is accepted by VLDB 2009.
Mar 09 Yi Chen, Xuemin Lin and I will give a three-hour tutorial titled "Keyword Search on Structured and Semi-structured Data" at the SIGMOD 2009 conference.
Feb 09 Our recent publications on Similarity Joins: Top-k Set Similarity Joins (ICDE 2009), and Approximate Entity Extraction with Edit Distance Constraints (SIGMOD 2009).
Jan 09 ARC-funded PhD Scholarship is available for the "Effective and Efficient Video Search" project. Interested candidates should contact me for further details.
Oct 08 We've just released our system that performs (self-) similarity join with several commonly-used similarity functions (ppjoin/ppjoin+ for Jaccard and cosine similarity, and Ed-Join for edit distance). Short biography

I am a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and Engineering, The University of New South Wales, Australia. My research area is Database Systems.

I received my Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hong Kong, China, in 2004, and B.Eng. degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 1999.
