Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt!!

Fay and I were over on LHI in April 1996 and had good views of one specimen
on the golf course, and while we were aware that such sightings were a rare
occurance on the island we unfortunately, like Richard, were unaware that
any doubts existed as to the exact identity of this species and "took" it to
be the common or garden brand of Pied Oystercatcher seen in abundance around
here on Queensland's Redcliffe Peninsula.  Not only did we not make any
