Although I have enjoyed David Attenboroughs series "The
Life Of Birds" and really admire the footage taken, I have picked out an
error in todays chapter "The Demands of the Egg" that could have gone
unoticed if one did not pay attention to the background calls. The scene showing
the white-winged form of the Varied Sitella nesting had a Wonga Pigeon calling
in the background. The range of this form of the Varied Sitella is in northern
Australia and does not coincide with the range of the Wonga Pigeon (a
south-eastern bird). This often occurs on other documentaries.
He also referred the White Noddy as a Fairy Tern, but perhaps
it is an alternative name for the bird.
Anyway, without being too picky, the show is excellent and
deserves lots of praise. Nothing can be perfect. Like Lorne says, it has also
made my Sunday afternoons.
