Hi everyone.

Spent some time Sat. and Sun. trying to seawatch from Soldier's Pt. on the Central Coast.  Conditions were difficult.

The following were seen:

Sat. 28/7

Giant Petrel spp. 2
Gannets ~15
Albatross spp 5
Great winged Petrels ~30

These were my first GWP from the CC. having just learnt to ID this bird with some confidence.  They were great to watch in the strong winds, some birds wheeling very high before dipping back to the waves.

Sun. 29/7

Giant Petrel 1
Gannets 3
Black-browed Albatross ~15
Shy A. 1
Yellow-nosed A. 1
Great-winged Petrels ~10
Fluttering SW lots
Whit-fronted Tern 1

A question.  Are there any other all dark birds eg Short- or Wedge-tailed SW about at the moment?  I saw a couple that looked a bit different to the GWP.  Could just be my imagination.

Anyone else go seawatching this weekend?

Regards.
