Hi Birders,
In southern NSW and Victoria concern is being
expressed about the declin ein the number of Apostelbirds, but in western
Sydney, there appears to be an increase in the places where Apostlebirds are now
present.
I presume that a number of years ago, a group of
Apostlebirds were released/escaped from Featherdale farm near Blacktown and
became established in the Blacktown/Mt Druitt area and are still present.
However, in 2000, Apostlebirds were reported from Mitchell Park Cattai in April,
Emerton in April, Mt Druitt TAFE & Mt Druitt Shopping Centre Apr-May
and Bidwill in July. Some of these suburbs are fairly close together
although not Cattai! Can anyone tell me whether there are multiple flocks of
these Apostlebirds or whethre it is the one flock wandering around the Mt Druitt
area?
