Leanne and I were out this afternoon checking out the new pedestrian path
running down from the Griffith Uni Busway Station to Klumpp Rd [on the backside
of Mt Gravatt] when we noticed a black shouldered kite sitting on a light pole
in by the motorway. It then dropped into the vegetated median strip in the
middle of the motorway before flying over to the other side of the motorway -
where it was subsequently hassled by a crow. [First time I've noticed a BS Kite
in Mt Gravatt].
Coming back along the other side of the motorway, we heard and saw a restless
flycatcher [another uncommon bird in the neighbourhood] near Gaza Rd. There
were plenty of honeyeaters along Nursery Rd, but hard to see clearly in the dull
light [though I could make out the odd brown honeyeater as opposed to the more
common yellow-faced honeyeaters].
