With cooler weather and recent bursts of rain Edithvale Wetlands (Melways 93 D9) are slowing drying up. This means you can almost be sure of seeing close up a crake or rail in the mud in front of the hide. The Red Necked Avocets are still there, as are Sharpies, Red Kneed Dotterels, and Latham's Snipe, and Whiskered Terns and the other regulars. And surely it's time for another rarity to visit!

Due to other matters  on Wed 25/12 and  1/1 the last  Wednesday Twilight opening  5.30 - 7pm for this year will be this week Dec 18th, and then in 2003 Wednesday January 8th and the 22nd.
Saturday and Sunday openings continue from 1pm - 5pm weekly until the area dries out.
The deeper ponds on the northern side can be viewed at any time and entered with permission to walk through the tall reeds.
