Subject: Lorikeets seed eating.
Yesterday I saw 6 Rainbow Lorikeets on the pavement in Darling Point Sydney,
feeding on the very fine seeds of the liquid amber trees. It is the first
time I have seen them feeding on the ground. How they pick up the seeds
which are about the size of finely ground pepper corns is a mystery. unless
they use the brush tip of their tongue. Stuart.
