I, too, checked out the footage from the 2.45 pm and 3.20 at Rosehill and
the 3 pm from Flemington, with no luck. Rosehill Racecourse is near
Parramatta and is some km from Sydney Olympic Park.

In case, something like this crops up again, please understand that the
races on Sky Channel come from several locations. There is a race every 10
minutes, successively from Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Adelaide, then
Melbourne again, etc. In between races, the cameras can transmit from any
one of the four racecourses, showing horses in the mounting yard and on the
way to the barrier. It would therefore be quite possible for a casual
observer to get the wrong racecourse in the wrong city. The 3.10 pm race was
from Morphettville (Adelaide), and there was a 2.52 pm broadcast from Eagle
Farm (Brisbane). I have not been able to check these races.

There is a further complication. Apart from Sky, some races are also
broadcast by TVN. Both channels use the same footage for races, but take
their own footage between races. It is common to see birds at all the
racecourses. Rosehill has a well known duck pond.

Evening all

Have had some frantic phone conversations and emails with a number of
people, and the following is what we have deduced:

1: No races at Randwick today, no gull at Randwick

2: The only race at exactly 3:00 today was Flemington (Melbourne), but the
stream shows no birds

3: I watched all the races from Rosehill (Sydney Olympic Park) and in a few
of them, White Ibis were flushed by the horses and flying on front of the
camera, but no gulls that I noticed

4: I watched a large number of the race videos from the above three tracks
today, and saw no gulls. If anyone wants to have a look themselves, visit
this website:

fault.aspx

In conclusion, I'm sleeping in tomorrow ;)

Cheers,
Joshua Bergmark
