Get a Fresh View

Having fresh eye review your problem can be very helpful. Simply explaining the issue to somebody can trigger new ideas as to what the problem might be. Fresh eyes may find the problem as they don’t have the same assumptions that might hide the issue in your thinking. Additionally, somebody with experience may be familiar with a similar problem, the system, and how to find the issue.

Here are some tips regarding getting fresh eyes looking over your problem.

  • Take a break and come back to your code.

  • Look at it after a good night’s sleep

  • Search the internet for the issue (sometimes it is a known bug within the software or a common coding mistake)

  • Ask about your bug on the course forum

  • Discuss your bug with your friends (don’t share code unless they are your partner for that activity)
