Adrenaline caught up with Lucius (drummer) from cog discussing about future plans and the state of the Sydney scene.

Ned: Firstly congratulations on the success on Open Up and on your mini Tour. How was the tour? Thanks....The tour went really well...It's great to see people coming out to check us out. It’s growing and growing all the time....

Lucius: At your recent Sydney shows you announced it will be your last shows for quite a while as you will be concentrating on writing songs. Does this mean we will be expecting an EP/Album soon. You have any idea when this will be released?

We really hope to have a full length album out bye the end of the year or the first thing next year...It take's cog awhile to write song’s. We’re very Picky. But we will be coming out still this year to do some show's...It would be great to road test some of the new song's...

Ned: With Open Up, the song is actually a cover song originally written by Leftfield. How did the idea of recording a cover come along?

Lucius: Well Flynn had the idea...We listened to the song and all thought it would be a great challenge. As you know leftfield's music is all electronic and we use just good old instrument's,bass, drum's guitar....It was a different feel as well compared to our music...we played it live for about 8 month’s and people dug it ,So we thought lets record it and put it out...

Ned: Included in the single are full length versions of Paris Texas and Moshiach. Why weren’t the full length versions on the Just Visiting EP's?

Lucius: When we wrote cog music their was a lot of fat within the music...we cut off heap's of bit's from all the song's...But live we played mosaic, Paris full length because we just dug playing it like that.. The open up single gave us a chance to put it out in full length version's...It worked out great because all the people who have seen us live know we play them like that and can now take it home to listen to!...

Ned: Since being part of the Sydney scene, what do you think of the Sydney scene itself ?

Lucius: A lot of work need's to be done. We only have 3 or 4 good rock venues which sucks..I think we have some great Band's playing around though...More people need to get out and see band's it's a dieing scene it.. Thanks to all the few hard core people that get out their it's just hanging in there...Its hard!!!

Ned: Also in the inside booklet of Just Visiting Part 2 you thank allot of local bands you have shared the stage with. Who’s idea was it to incorporate that and you also mentioned some great acts like Clone-b. Down.to.size, superheist, The Mighty Few and Polystigma, who was your favourite act to share the stage with? .

Lucius: We all thought it would be a great idea...Us and all of the other band's have poured out heart’s out on stage's around this country...Every band has something to offer. The one's we've done some touring with like The butterfly effect have been funny as hell...

Ned: One of Cog's trademarks is your live show. One thing which really impresses me, besides your amazing live set is that you have played nearly every single venue in oz! I know here in Sydney you have played all the playable venues. You have played large venues such as the Horden to very small pubs like the Bull n Bush hotel which caters for only a 100 people. Was it always your plan to play as many venues as you can?

Lucius: We don't have any record company helping us out. So the only way as been to get out to the people...Its been hard work but we'll worth it...We have very loyal fan base that are their for the right reason’s, much respect go out to them for helping spread the word of COG....

Ned: You guys received such a great reaction from the Big day out. How did it feel to be playing all Cites on the big day out and to be playing with the Deftones, Sparta, Jimmy Eat World and Underworld?

Lucius: It's alway's a dream to think about playing the BDO ..Now we've done that all we can say is that we are very great full for been given the chance...

Ned: Lastly is there anything you would like to say to Adrenaline zine Readers out there?

Lucius: We have a web site www.cog.com.au with some free song's to down load on their. Have a listen and hopefully we'll see you at a show sometime and maybe you'll join the cog journey!!, take care and try to own your own time in this LIFE!!!....
