Cog are back in their hometown of Bondi and they are ready to show all their friends and family (plus the huge amount of locals at the show) why they haven’t been around as much lately and to also air some new stuff to their dedicated fanbase.

I'm not one for big comparisons but Cog are what you could call our own Australian version of Tool, their epic songs that involve many time changes, flowing guitar riffs and down tempo singing are very similar to those of Tool, but Cog add their own unique touch to create a sound that they can call their own. They are something new to come out of the Australian music scene, something fresh and challenging.

In the boiling hot upstairs area of the Bondi Golf club the crowd gets anxious and the bar doesn’t know what hit it, hundreds of sweaty punters either charging towards the stage to get a good spot or to the bar to get something to cool down with, then the sound of didgeridoos and a slow beat come blasting through the loudspeaker, it is time ladies and gentleman for Cog to hit the stage. They launch into the slow grind of a new song titled 'Paris, Texas' which seemed to last forever but was a perfect opening choice, instead of slamming straight into a harder edge song the band built them up and by the time 'Moo' started they had us wrapped around their finger.

This was no average rock show, most bands pump out a song, say something to the crowd then pump out another till the set comes to an end, Cog preferred to drag out their songs into beautiful landscape-like sounds that would slam into heavier territories, these 2 effects molded together perfectly to create a different yet interesting kind of set that you would not often witness.

The crowd went mental when the lead singer said 'this ones for you, its called 'Bondi'', hearing the most popular track off the 'Just Visiting Part 1' EP and the fact they were singing about where a majority of the crowd came from had the place shaking like the roof was about to cave in. The Band carried on and it was too hard to stop watching the stage and listen, Cog are totally unpredictable live, which shows the signs of a well-developed and talented band.

The show eventually came to an end and it proved once again why Cog are building such a huge fanbase, due to their originality and creativeness on their EP's backed up by a killer live show that keeps you wondering what will happen next, Highly recommended new Aussie band.
